Here at West there are a bunch of different programs that you can graduate with a bachelors with and there is just so many opportunities. Overall, there are also very good professors here and The connections you make with is truly amazing!

I like the fact that it's small, quiet, and a welcoming place to be. I would like to see more diversity, more clubs, activities, scholarships, and resources tailored to help each individual.

My overall experience with West has been pretty good. I like how everyone is friendly on campus and how many emails the schools send out. I will say that if you are very good at pushing yourself this is a good school for you. When trying to make appointments with counselors or trying to get a hold of financial aid, they often took long to get back to you. Going here means you are focused and willing to get your degree, because you are doing it on your own.

Aside from being just a small community college, West Los Angeles College has many opportunities to offer. West LA deeply cares about its students and their academic journeys.

Really good teachers. The only thing I would like to see more is if more teachers could teach the same subject

I would like to see a better support system for students, they made it very difficult to see a counselor. I did enjoy the science program they had knowledgeable and diverse instructors.

I cannot express enough how horrible the dental hygiene program is at West LA College. The professors are bullies and are honestly on some sort of power-trip. They call students inappropriate names, are extremely degrading and unorganized, & find any way to try to fail you in your courses and clinic. They will keep you after school for hours because they ran out of time to teach things in class. I have always been a straight “A” student, but they make it impossible to pass their dental hygiene program. So many of the students in my cohort had to drop out from becoming mentally or physically ill from the stress and terrible treatment there, or because they were failed by the professors unfairly. The dean of academics even said that she gets so many complaints about the program, and that the program is hard, but it doesn’t need to be as hard as this school makes it. Do not waste your time or money going here, you’ll truly be miserable.

I am a senior in the Dental Hygiene program. It has been HELL the whole time here. Very nasty spiteful professors. They all have different teaching styles. On clinical exam day if you don’t do it the way that professor taught no matter what the other professors have taught and pass along the way it’s a fail. It is so unfair none of the professors are in sync with teaching. They talk about all their students and call them names. It’s such a stressful environment! They seriously need their license taken away with all the unethical things they do! Don’t take this program you will regret it!!

I agree that their hygiene program is terrible. Some instructors who has been there for a long time don't teach but fail you and say meaning things to you. Their teaching style does not create a compassionated environment to learn but threaten students's self esteem. They have favoritism to pass certain students. I am regretful choosing this program

The school is a great school to learn at. While pretty empty at times, the teachers are great, the staff are great, and I haven't yet had a bad teacher. Every teacher is adaptible to the online or in person classes, and you always feel welcome.

I like the fact it is easy for me to do it everything online such as enrollment and talk to different people I may need to speak with through online chat. I like that I can also speak with my teachers online as well.

I like the teachers that I have had at West LA. My classmates have been helpful and supportive outside of school once we have established common ground. I have been having a hard time with getting a loan from West Los Angeles College. I have completed the reqirements 4 times, and they are still saying that they haven't recieved it. I have been homeless with 2 kids since Nov. 2022. I have explained why I need the loan. There is no one to advocate for me about this matter. This is the reason I am applying for scholarships and grants. I would like to see some urgency for student needs to be met. I have to retake 2 of my classes from this semester because I have been to stressed to get anything done, when Im worried about how I am going to feed my kids, and keep a roof over our heads.

My overall experience at west LA has been great since I started with plenty of opportunities that I received within the school of careers, internships, research as well being in a poster showcase for my biology class and won an award this year for the spring semester.

It is really hard to communicate with the counselor. I found the classes I took so far difficult because the teachers just posted boring videos.

Don't go here for the Dental Hygiene program. It is the worst choice I have ever made. The professors just keep piling stuff on us, and they don' teach us!! We have to memorize and verbally say 5-10 minute speeches all while giving injections to our class mates. This is not a learning compassionate program, this is a teach yourself and then get failing grades type of program!! So many repeat students from prior cohorts who just can't pass and are now in our cohort. If you search other dental hygiene programs they have good reviews, West Los Angeles doesn't have any! Many of my cohort friends all have anxiety from this mess of a program.
