Prevention and Early Intervention

Fundations®

Fundations is a multisensory and systematic phonics, spelling, and handwriting program that benefits all K–3 students. It makes learning to read fun while building a foundation for lifelong literacy. Each Fundations level-specific launch workshop provides teachers the practice and guidance to implement the Fundations curriculum effectively. Select the workshop(s) corresponding to the program level you’ll implement in your school.

Intervention

Just Words®

Just Words is a highly explicit, multisensory decoding and spelling program for students in grades 4–12 and adults who have mild-to-moderate gaps in their decoding and spelling proficiency but do not require intensive intervention. The program is designed for students with below-average decoding and spelling scores who can benefit from targeted word study focus without requiring the more comprehensive intervention of the Wilson Reading System. Just Words aligns with MTSS and RTI frameworks and should be combined with other literature-rich programs.

Intensive Intervention

Wilson Reading System®

The Wilson Reading System (WRS) is an intensive intervention program for students in grades 2–12 that is also effective for teaching adults with language-based learning disabilities, including dyslexia. We offer educators a Wilson Reading System Introductory course and certification in the Wilson Reading System Level 1, which works with even very challenged readers. Level I certification prepares teachers to effectively implement WRS Steps 1-6 with students reading and spelling below grade level or students diagnosed with a language-based learning disability.

I will be using the word-building activities with my students. This is a great way to help them transfer over to the Wilson program from their current program.

I feel very blessed to be able to attend this training [and] reading practicum! My skills as a teacher are being challenged in a good way. Honestly, being able to grow as a teacher from such highly trained professionals has helped me stay positive in such a challenging year. I plan on continuing my training in using Wilson Reading.
